“The slow way to go” The Guardian, 28 March 2008 (Go Slow England author Alastair Sawday discusses slow travel)

“The book has just landed on my desk. Wow, it’s absolutely beautiful. I find myself gasping or nodding (or both) at whatever page I open to. Congratulations. This really is a triumph.” Carl Honoré, author of In Praise of Slow

Anticipation from trade publication The Bookseller:

January 2008 - Alastair Sawday has embraced the “Slow” philosophy and compiled a sumptuous coffee table book called Go Slow England, which features people who take like easy and places where they can do it. This is a guide for those who want to escape the humdrum hassle of everyday life and finds havens of peace and contentment. Recipes, lists of vineyards and pubs, and suggestions for “slow days” - what’s not to like?

December 2007 - I really enjoyed every page of Alastair Sawday’s sumptuous new guidebook, Go Slow England. Full of beautiful descriptions and photographs, it describes 48 places to stay and visit in England, all with a particular emphasis on “going slow”. Each region is accompanied by a useful regional map, and lists of restaurants and places of interest. It’s a welcome antidote to stressful modern living and staying in impersonal hotels or B&Bs.

October 2007 - This is the first book in a new series that should prove exceptionally popular: a “slow guide to help the reader to enjoy the finer things life”. Sawday promotes the astonishingly attractive idea of taking life at an altogether slower pace. I particularly like the Cornish teepee holiday.
